Catching Up On Sleep Myth
This is a very popular myth, that I have been the victim of following as well. Despite popular believe, you can't actually "catch up on sleep". What happens instead is that when you go many days without getting adequate sleep your body builds up what is known as a "sleep debt" that can't be recovered. In fact going many days without adequate sleep can be worse than occasionally taking an all-nighter because it is the cumulative amount of lack of sleep that matters the most. Lack of adequate sleep has many negative health effects such as slow reaction speed, less productive brain and muscle activity, as well as being a safety hazard when driving car. So remember to not use the excuse of catching up on sleep but instead find ways to get adequate amount of sleep, even if it means napping during the day.
