Are restaurants really healthier than fast food?

This is a very common misconception about sit-in restaurants as compared with fast food restaurants. Regular sit-in restaurants are often perceived as a healthier choice than fast foods but this is mainly because of the bad publicity that fast food chains have received. In fact, almost any restaurant you go to, whether it is fast food or not, offer similar foods in terms of calories, sodium, and fats. But sit-in restaurants almost always have larger portion sizes so they contain even more calories! So don't fool yourself into thinking regular restaurants are healthier than fast foods but instead consider each meal you have, in terms of portion size, calories, sodium, and fat intake separetly. Depending on which restaurants you like going to, it might even be best to limit how many times you eat out!
